Software development is the process by which a computer program is written. Learning how to write computer code allows us to tap into our creative side as well as our logical thinking skills. Software development is a great playground for kiddos of all ages to expand the limits of their problem-solving comfort zone by creating programs designed to address all types of real-world problems and situations. Class Descriptions
Level 1 - Let's Get Started
This beginner session assumes no prior knowledge of software development.
Goals for Level 1 include:
Each session will consist of four one-hour classes.
Session fee: $50 per student
Students need to bring their own laptop/tablet to each class. They will also need to create a Scratch account ahead of time. It’s a simple process that I am happy to assist with before our first meeting.

- Students become familiar with Scratch’s interface to create a functioning program.
- Students gain an understanding of events in programming and how we use/respond to some of them.
- Students understand several methods to control a program’s execution (loops, if/then decisions, wait commands) as well as utilizing multiple paths of execution.
- Students create 4 different functioning programs.

- Location: Castle Rock Library
- Currently limited to 12 students - 7 openings available
- Kiddos will need to bring their own laptop/tablet.
